The Daimler DB18 is a big saloon car produced by Daimler from 1939 until 1953. It is a 2½-litre version of the preceding 2.2-litre New Fifteen introduced in 1937. From 1949, the DB18 was revised to become the Daimler Consort.
Using the engine developed for the Daimler Scout Car, it was offered to customers from 1939 as a six-cylinder chassis on which Daimler and various British coach builders offered a range of bodies including drop-head coupes.
This particular car is a lovely two tone black and silver with original leather seats and woodwork, and feels like a well used study from the 40s, that looks and smells as it should. Everything is working as it should, and having benefited from a lot of care and attention from her previous owner, she is a lovely car indeed. She was used by her previous owner as his Sunday car, but participated in a number of local weddings for friends and family. When you are the proud owner of a car of this vintage, there is never a shortage of requests to be the brides mode of transport. In saying that, this car is ideal as a wedding car, or an investment for the future. The Consort models were supplied with the 4-speed pre-selector gearbox with Fluid Flywheel.. In simple terms, it was an early version of the pre select gearbox. She starts and drives perfectly. Brakes and gear changes are fine. All lights and switches do as they should, and is ready to drive away. These cars from the early 50s are becoming scarce to find, and we need to ensure we keep as many of them alive as we can.
Viewing is strictly by appointment, and we are open Monday to Saturday. Delivery can be arranged, and part exchange may be considered.
